Imperial Valley Represented at Renewable Energy World Conference

The Imperial Valley is a focal point for potential renewable energy development.  To showcase the opportunities present in the Imperial Valley, the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC), Imperial Valley Enterprise Zone (IVEZ) and Calexico-County Enterprise Zone (CCEZ) sent representatives to the Renewable Energy World North American Conference held February 23-25 at the Austin Convention Center.

The owner of the burned-out Planter's hotel in Brawley has obtained an out-of-court settlement in his multi-million dollar lawsuit against a major insurance carrier.

County Unemployment Rate Tops 30 Percent

Figures from the California Department of Economic Development show Imperial County's seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate  was over 30 percent in July.
